My favorite part of college is the friends I’ve made along the way. The connections and relationships you can make is endless! Around this time last year, I had a completely different friend group. I hadn’t even met the friend that I’ve gone on so many adventures with since. The experiences I have had while attending university are completely different than what I expected coming in 2019, but now I’m glad that I’ve had them because they made me who I am today.
So this friend…she’s a special one. A unique, inspiring, crazy one. She has similar interests, however, her passion for experiencing new things is unlike my own. She’s taught me that life has so many opportunities out there ready for us to experience. This summer was the first time she showed me just what life had in store for me.
I have always wanted to travel. Traveling is something that a lot of college students want to experience before they head into the workforce. I kind of left that idea in the past since traveling was too expensive, time consuming, and stressful to be worth it to me. However, I was presented the opportunity to travel in the summer of 2021. With the advice of my friends, I took the opportunity and was determined to make this trip happen. I’m so glad I did because it was one of the greatest experiences of my life!
This group of four college students somehow planned a trip to Chicago! It was hectic and stressful, but somehow we managed to start traveling once we were done with finals. To be honest, I was very nervous since it was my first time traveling out of state without my family. It was also the first time I was going on an airplane. Long story short, it was not very pleasant. However, visiting a new place with my acquaintances gave me hope that we would experience a lot of new and interesting things. I am happy to say that we did!
We visited as many places as we could in the short time we were in Chicago. The Chicago city pass helped us decide on some iconic locations, but we ended up visiting the aquarium, art museum, high rises, and tried unique food. It was so much fun that I went to Chicago again in the summer to visit my family.
This experience taught me that you should take up the opportunities that are presented to you. If I hadn’t chosen to travel with these girls, I would have missed out on making some valuable memories and gaining amazing friendships. Thank you Haesoo, Seohyun, and Yubia for joining me on this adventure. I’m glad to have you all as my friends and I hope that we can travel some more in the future!
